This past week I was lucky enough to shoot some spectacular hair design pieces from Baltimore based designer Rae Beth. Ashley was a lovely model as always. We played in the woods and used some light, branches, leaves and light flares to make the colors pop. All photos taken with Kodak Portra 400 film, the trusty Canon AE-1 and a reflector help up with my legs. Got quite the workout.
Color rendition came out perfect. I didn’t do any editing aside from very minor exposure correction on some and a few dust spot touch ups. Other than that these are straight from the negatives. This is the first time I used a reflector with film and I do like the results but at times it was a bit too bright. I think I’m going to use it more to see how I can manipulate it better. I found the silver worked better than the gold.
Anyways, if you liked Rae’s pieces, be sure to check out her Etsy shop and Facebook page! I also shot a roll of expired slide film on this shoot as well but have not had it cross processed yet. We’ll see those results soon π
