Disclaimer: Digital photographs presented ahead. Most of you who have been following me for quite some time know that I’m a film photographer by hobby and a photojournalist by trade. I photograph a lot of things to stay afloat in this industry: weddings, people portraits, news, features, events, you name it.
With every big news event I photograph for work I also try to incorporate film as well. This past weekend I photographed Firefly Music Festival for the second year in a row. This time it was for the Baltimore Sun’s visual journalism blog, The Darkroom. While most of these are digital, I did try to use my film camera periodically. It was a crazy, fast-paced weekend, so I had little time to focus – pun intended – on my film work while I was busy editing and uploading the digitals in real time.
We were really happy to be there:
Let’s get to the music. Here are a few of my personal favorites:
Wanna see the rest of my photos and my news story? Yep, I write too. Just not nearly as often as I take photos. Go here to The Darkroom to see it!
As for what film photographs I could muster up…..
I wish I could have taken loads more of film photos like I did last year. This years schedule was just so hectic that I didn’t have the time. The media schedule was a lot more intense. In between photo pits it was photo editing, uploading, emailing and story writing and interviewing. The free open bar soothed my nerves a bit 😉
Here’s some behind the scenes instagraming in case you don’t follow me (psssst you should!)
This weekend was an exhausting but fun one! Things should quiet down a bit now until early August. I’ll be spending my time trying new film techniques out to share with you guys. Please go follow The Darkroom 🙂
Really really nice
thank you!
WOW Amazing photography! Felt like I was there. Too bad I couldn’t hear the music LOL. I also read the Baltimore Sun article. Fabulous. You and Andrew should be proud! Excellent work!
Thanks! We worked hard on it, it was an exhausting weekend 🙂
