A few days ago I had the chance to photograph one of my friends, coincidentally also one of my favorite models, Ashley. If you’ve been following my work for awhile you’ll recognize her face from countless shoots her and I have done together. Our friend Serena Russell did the amazing makeup job.
It’s been awhile since I have been able to shoot a creative, fashion driven type of photoshoot. I used to always shoot in this style but ever since journalism has taken hold it was put on the back burner. I usually only do this style when I have extra free time but I love it because it allows me to have a ton of creative freedom. In honor of Halloween, we went with a gothic style makeup look and all black clothing with the woods as a backdrop.
The digital photos were shot on a Canon 5D Mark III with a 16-35mm f/2.8 lens and the film photos were shot on a 35mm Vivitar Big View with Fuji Superia 400 film.
Ashley looks like she’s a part of the Coven or something. I loved this look so much. I bought black lipstick the other day as apart of my first choice of Halloween costume (a vampire) and I felt pretty bold wearing it…I kind of wish it could be an everyday thing to be honest.
*Taking my film roll to get developed today! I’ll update and repost this once I scan in and add them. 🙂
I hope everyone had a safe and fun Halloween! I was out shooting all night for The Baltimore Sun – first Edgar Allan Poe’s grave and the catacombs at the Westminister Burying Ground and then in Fells Point for the rest of the night! Look out for those two galleries this weekend.
