First blog post of 2015! I just wanted to do a quick post tonight to start the month (and year!) off right. I had planned on bringing my camera out with me on NYE but I got an assignment last minute (7:30pm!) and, well, yeah, after that I didn’t feel like lugging the camera bag around with me all night. It was a fun assignment but afterwards I just wanted to throw my gear in my house and go out with my friends and have some fun. It was a good choice since the bar we went to in Fells Point was PACKED and having a camera bag that weighs 20lbs wouldn’t have made me the happiest NYE celebrator. I figured I’d share some iPhone 5 photos I snapped because they actually turned out pretty decent considering I used a cell phone camera…those pack a powerful punch when you don’t have anything else on you to shoot with.
My favorite photo advice was always “the best camera is the one you have on you.”
I hope everyone had a fun and safe NYE celebration! My best friend Alyssa (pictured above), who lives in NYC, came down to Baltimore to visit me and her other friends and Andrew’s two college friends from D.C. also came up to visit us. We were so lucky to be surrounded by good company and people we share similar interests and positive vibes with. I wouldn’t have had it any other way. A good thing about Baltimore is that you always run into friends wherever you go – for such a big city Baltimore is pretty small in that aspect. We found my friends Aaron and Melvin (pictured above) wearing some sweet ties and suspenders. We all drank and grooved to early 2000’s music in the last hours of the best year of 2014.
I personally think that NYE is always anti-climatic to be honest. We count down like a rocket is going to go off and once we get to “ONE!” things are exactly the same aside from a number change in the date (which happens every day anyways). I sound like a debbie downer but NYE has never really been a thing for me in terms of life changing. I hate making resolutions – if I’m going to make a change I’m not going to wait until New Year’s to do it! Make the changes you wish to make when you feel like making them and when you’re ready to make them, don’t base the decision on a date. Changes won’t last if you feel forced or obligated into them.
On that note, I hope everyone had a great start to January and 2015 and if you didn’t well, don’t worry. Just like today is another year tomorrow is another day. 😉
