I grew up in Baltimore City and have lived here most of my life. It’s the type of city that you never really escape no matter where you end up living.  I attended Urbana High School, a high school just outside of Frederick, MD, for four years before I moved back closer to home to start studying journalism at Towson University. I took my first photojournalism class as an elective and quickly fell in love with visually documenting the life around me. I took a photo course in high school but it wasn’t until college that I really began to pursue it as a career (thanks Monica Lopossay) I love writing but to me the story just isn’t complete without visuals; sometimes stories don’t even need words. I view photography as another instinct, another sense and another extension of my body. It’s just something I do, like breathing or eating Chipotle.

I graduated Towson University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Mass Communication in Journalism and New Media in Spring 2014 and  with my Master’s in Professional Writing with a concentration in journalistic writing in the Spring of 2016. I photo-interned for The Baltimore Sun in 2013. I’ve been published in The Baltimore Sun, BBJ, Baltimore Magazine, USA Today, LA Times, Orlando Sentinel, Jewish Times, The Towerlight, Getty Images and Anadolu Agency among others.

This blog is over a decade old and its growth and development have allowed me to meet so many different people. If you’d like to read the history of how it all started, please click here.

This photo blog has been the recipient of the reader voted Maryland Outstanding Blog Awards for three years! Best New Blog once and Best Photo Blog twice. This happens because of you guys always reading and giving me great feedback, I appreciate it more than you know.

  1. I’ve just been looking at your latest post (some great pix and an interesting comment on Superia) but this is the first time I’ve had a look at your ‘About’. I was first introduced to photography by my grandma, my first camera was a box Brownie, I too love cats and motorcycles, and I’ve got ‘a lot’ of classic film cameras, so we seem to have a lot in common – just about 60 years apart! It’s good that doing the shooting ‘professionally’ hasn’t lessened your love of making pictures; for me it’s so with writing but I’ve kept the photography strictly hobby for which I stick to film, though I do use digital in my job and some of my favourite bloggers use digital.

    • So glad that you took the time to read it!
Sometimes photography can get a bit annoying since I do it for a living. I started shooting film because I just really wanted a nice change. So, I guess you could say film is my hobby and digital is my business 😉

  2. Thank you so much for following my blog. My interest in photography has grown in the past year and I’m looking forward to viewing your work. Maybe you can give a newbie some pointers? 😉
