Aloha. Hope everyone’s first half of the semester, first half of fall, what have you, has been a swell one. I’ve gotten a bit experimental in my time since summer, so I hope you guys enjoy what I’ll be dishing out this upcoming winter. This set is a special one to me because it involved my siblings, the twins, and they did a great job. I’ve released a handful of these on FB and have gotten a lot of really positive, really great feedback!
For this, I used a Canon A-1 with Kodak Portra 400 35mm film. The digital ones were taken with a Canon 5D Mark III.
It was a bit humid and rainy that day, so the slight blurring is because of that. Originally a few people asked how I got the purple coloring on the first few images without doing in post processing or using a filter.
SIMPLE! To get that foggy, dreamlike effect with film (or any photo medium) just take a clear sandwich bag, the kind that doesn’t ziplock, color the bottom with colored marker, rip it just a little bit with your finger and put it over your lens. You could use a rubber band to keep it there but I just held it with my other hand so I could move it around. The hole is so it’s easier for you to manually focus.
